Dry Ridge & Lead Flashing Installation With Gutter Slate Repair, Houghton-le-Spring

A. Armstrong Roofing carried out dry ridge installation and lead flashing work on the main roof, alongside repairs to the bonding gutter slates. The project included erecting HSE-approved scaffolding, removing existing ridge tiles and mortar, and fitting pressure-treated roof battens before installing new concrete ridge tiles on a ventilated, maintenance-free dry-fix system. Missing or dislodged slates were replaced, and code 4 lead flashings were fitted around the chimney breast. For the bonding gutter, slates were stripped back 1m, damaged battens replaced, and reclaimed slates installed to close gaps with the neighbouring roof. The site was cleaned, and all waste removed upon completion.


Rear Dormer Lead Work, Sunderland

A. Armstrong Roofing completed repairs to the rear dormer lead work, ensuring a durable, weatherproof finish compliant with UK building regulations. The project involved providing safe access using scaffold boards or OSB boards over the conservatory roof, removing the bottom course of hanging tiles as needed, and replacing the existing lead with new code 4 lead cover flashings fitted with straps. Hanging tiles were reinstalled, with any damaged tiles replaced. The site was thoroughly cleaned, and all waste was removed upon completion.


Chimney Stack Refurbishment, Washington

This chimney stack refurbishment and roof repair in Washington focused on enhancing durability and weatherproofing. The team repointed the brickwork, capped the stack with cement, and replaced damaged roof components with high-quality materials like breathable under-felt and pressure-treated battens. New code 4 leadwork and Alcan soakers were installed for superior waterproofing. Ridge tiles were re-bedded with Flexim putty, and broken tiles replaced, leaving the roof fully restored and weatherproof.


Lead Flashing Repairs, Washington

This lead replacement project covered 4m of repairs, using HSE-approved scaffolding for safe roof access. Existing lead flashing, back gutter, tiles, and battens were removed as needed. New 162gsm breathable underfelt and pressure-treated battens were installed, and all tiles and ridge tiles were reinstalled, with broken ones replaced. Code 4 lead step flashings and a lead back gutter were fitted to meet building regulations, and Flexim putty was applied to the verge edge. The site was cleaned, and all waste was removed upon completion.
